Anyone in the world One thing I've learned right off the bat about becoming a photographer is that living in the country is a little detrimental in terms of subject matter. A good many of the stock photography sites aren't interested in any more shots of flowers, trees, animals etc which means that travel is required to get the kind of shots they need more of such as corporate, fashion, restaurant food etc.... Anyone in the world I feel somewhat limited as i am doing this from a boat in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. But i am eager to learn and hopeful that i will come to understand all of those things i don't yet, or have been too lazy to seek out on my own. The whole F stops/ Aperature/ Shutter speed relationship thing eludes me, though i think i have a basic understanding now, i can't wait to put it into practice. Also, i'm wanting to purchase the Canon 1Ds MIII, or 5D MII, and hope to figure out which would suit me better. I have a Canon 20D at home and the 90s out here with me. Next time i come offshore, i want to bring the 20D with me. [ Modified: Thursday, 22 July 2010, 01:23 AM ] |

Anyone in the world okay moving along the course learning new settings and different things. Challenging but fun. Playing with things that aren't suppose to mix to create interesting image. Water and oil.

Anyone in the world This is my first photography course - at least one with assignments and grades! I have spent the past 5 years enjoying a DSLR and acquiring gear that I thought would magically make me a better photographer. I am finally realizing that there are holes in my learning. I am self-taught, with the help of photography blogs, online tutorials, and books; not to mention the taking of many pictures.
I aspire to really "make" pictures, rather than just taking snapshots. I feel comfortable with the language and the use of my camera - but find that I often will go out to shoot in a certain environment and forget a key element like setting the iso properly or have the camera set on aperture when I needed to control the shutter speed. Yikes!
Have zipped through the first 2 lessons, so am now ready to charge on! Looking forward to it! [ Modified: Wednesday, 12 May 2010, 01:39 AM ] |

Anyone in the world I just completed lesson 2 and learned a lot. I am excited about the course. My husband purchased the Canon 5d for me because he knew I loved to take pictures. Now I can't wait to be able to be more creative! [ Modified: Wednesday, 12 May 2010, 01:39 AM ] |
