16689SOOC. I sheepishly submit this for cc's.
Thanks Kaye and Shirley!! This was the reflection on the ceiling as my husband was changing a halogen lightbulb. The light fixture one next to it was hanging down and the glass around the bulb cast this reflection! I have added the entire picture of the bulb and an edit of the reflection. The reflection shot SOOC is not cropped.

Hi Marianne I'm not sure why you are sheepish about posting this, I really like your idea and think it fits abstract perfectly. It reminds me of sun rays. I have no idea how you did this or what it is but I have just a couple of thoughts for what they are worth. I know it is SOOC so would play a bit with levels and contrast to enhance the light and shadow bringing out the patterns. I also notice there is a bit of texture to the background. Not sure if this is noise but you could use it to add effect or maybe reduce and sharpen depending on what you fancy the end result to be. Can you retake this, was it something you set up? If so, I notice the dark semi circle has what looks like camera shake. It might be something to do with what constitutes that section, in which case it might be an idea to increase this so it does not look like shake or try to increase sharpness of this section. These are just a few thoughts but I really really like this. Well done.
Hi Marianne,
I too feel that you should not be sheepish about posting this shot, as I think it is a wonderful abstract. I am not sure what it is.... and being SOOC, you can now edit a little to see what you come up with.
I will say no more, as I have read Shirley's comments with interest and feel that she has given some great pointers here.

Thanks so much Shirley and Kaye. I have added an edit and a shot of the full picture.
Hi Marianne,
I really like what you have done with your edit, and I think it makes a good abstract. It does appear to have just a little bit of noise. Do you have Noise Ninja or similar? If not perhaps you could lessen it a touch in Elements or PS.
I am posting your edited shot again as I suspect you have a couple of dead or hot pixels. I am not sure, but you could look at a couple of your other original shots you have taken recently and see if the bright spots are in the same place. I have circled the spots I noticed. Up close, they tend to look like a cross.

Thanks for that Kaye. I went back to the original and could not find those bright spots. I wonder if it was dust? Anyway, I edited them out now. I don't have noise ninja but I have a nosie filter in Elements. I also have Lightroom 3 which I have not installed yet. Did you get your dead pixel issue resolved?

Hi again Marianne,
No, I have not got my dead pixels fixed yet.... don't want to be without my camera, but will do it sometime whilst I still have warranty. I have 3 noticeable dead pixels which I clone out in each shot.
When I look at your very first shot at the top of the page (SOOC), I can also see the bright spots in that one. Have a look at a couple of other shots that you have taken recently (with plain backgrounds) and check in the same spots. You may need to enlarge your shot to up to 200%. If you don't see them in any others, maybe they were spots on your ceiling:D:D

Kaye,
I looked thu 10 shots from the RAW file and did not see those bright spots in any of them, but I definitely see them in the RAW of the original abstract. I hope it was just a few dust particles, and maybe so as Joe pulled these bulbs out from the cans, maybe there is dust in them. No reflection on my housekeeping, of course!! Thanks for your help here.
Sandra, thank you for such a nice compliment! It means a lot to me.

Nice abstract Marianne. The lines make a dimension feeling too. I was wondering though, what it will look like if you put the semi circle on the top corner? Therefore the lines will all lead to one point. Have you tried to change the hue to blue color? I think that color has less noise.

Tenny, thanks for both of these suggestions. I did what you said to and have started a new thread called blue abstract. I think the crop really helped and the blue does indeed seem to have less noise. Thanks so much!!
