I have always loved Abstract, and with all the interest lately, I decided to have a rest from the norm and digitally make one.
I took one photo for the background. I would really love your thoughts on this as this is a first for me.

Marianne, thank so much, you are too kind! I am not sure that I will remember all that I did, but will tell you the basics I remember:

- I took a shot of a large piece of a pastel floral material to use as my background. (I use this material sometimes as a backdrop for my indoor floral shots).
- Lightened background a little, then used Gaussian Blur to soften nicely.
- Downloaded some bubble brushes.
- Put several different bubbles randomly, each in 5 different layers. (The pic below shows what it looked like before distortion of the layers).
- Used invert at some stage which severely changed the color tones.
- Then, each of the 4 layers, one at a time, I ran through "Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. This nicely distorted some of the bubbles in groups, and I could move each group/layer around and place where I wanted. (The 5th layer was the bubbles I put on/over the edge of the shot, so distorting them would not have worked with half bubbles).
- Finally, I placed three larger bubbles over the top of the other layers, but did not distort these.
- Then at the end I fiddled around with colors. To get the really bright colors, I think I used Auto Tone, but then something else, but I can't remember what else!! If I think of it, I will let you know.

Thank you Sandra. This is the sort of thing you could try without having to go out and get shots.
There is no limit as to what can be done in digital art... just imagination and a few brushes. I love it, but don't have enough time at present to play around with my ideas.
Another great digital art effect is fractal art. I have downloaded the software, but don't know how to use it properly yet.

This is the software I downloaded. It is free. http://www.apophysis.org/downloads.html

Wow! I am so glad I enrolled in the pse9 course here on pp so I can try to use your workflow you described! All those brushes and layers, etc are on elements but I just don't know how to use them! Thanks for the info!

Hi Marianne,
I look forward to what you come up with after the course!

Hi Sandra,
It's funny how we get a thrill shooting something in particular. Mine has been shells lately, but haven't posted any.
Re the Link I posted for Apophysis, I know there are many on-line tutorials which I need to do before trying anything serious with this, but some of the artwork that people come up with with this software is spectacular.
If you have time to look at a few tutorials whilst resting, you may be able to help me with this.

Great imagination Kaye.

Thanks very much Shirley. It can be a big time waster, but I love it.

Thanks very much Owen for your kind remarks and thoughts. The best part about an image like this, if you save at various stages, is to go back and make something else quite different from the same basic original.

Thank you very much Joseph. I did this a while back so I am glad I posted how I did it on the first page of this thread in reply to Marianne. (I have copied this below in blue).
Please ask if your want to know more.... that is if I remember.
Since then, I converted to B&W also.... Here is B&W version of the same (I think) image:
