Andy -

It's all purple?? Is it supposed to be like that?

No! LOL. I'm not sure what has happened there. However, my laptop has gone pop today and guess where the images are! I was going to back them up today as I didnt have time over the weekend but when I came to turn the laptop on today it just would not start. Not sure why yet.

Once I get it back, I'll have a look at the image and see what has happened.

And you didn't learn from my lesson about backing up???? Shame on you.

On my screen, your image has purple haze on it.

I did learn from your experience Debbie however, I was planning on backing up once a week. Hence I was going to do it today! Typical eh.
Still, I am hopfull that I can retrieve all my data from the hard drive so it should not be too bad. That is the trouble using a laptop, you can not really have an external drive connected all the time so you have to do it when you get chance.

Still, not to worry, I'll give it a go maybe tomorrow and see what I can retrieve.

Good luck. With a laptop, how about one of those little pocket size drives or jump drive that plugs into a USB port??

That's a possibility, I have one on order so I could use that. Thanks.

Don't have the answer, but that purple haze at sunset was also visible this evening at sunset over Dublin.

Perhaps it should have been a purple haze then? I know I played with the image in photoshop but I cant remember what settings I altered! My memory is not getting any better!!!

As for the laptop, after an awful lot of encouragement, beatings and frustration, I finally managed to get the laptop to come to life this morning (after it totally refused yesterday!) so the first thing I did before anything else was to backup almost everything to my external harddrive. As I was doing this, the external harddrive failed!!! (I was not having a good day!) I managed to get that going again and finished the backup, now all's I have to do is plug the Hard drive into my main computer and back up everything onto DVD.

Computers eh, can't live with them, and can't live without them.

the shot I posted is from the camera, perhaps a bit darker due to underexposure bur other than that not PP.

Andy I like the purple haze on the photo. It sets it apart from all of the "blue" sky photos!

I looked at the sky late last night and again there was a purple haze for the sunset. I did not take a picture this time but it appears that it should be purple.

I want a purple sunset - heck, I'd be happy if I can actually see a sunset here.

Sue -

Just got home from work and as I look out the window, I can see a blaze of sunset. Unfortunately, no place to get a decent shot, besides, it's too darn cold.

The last sunset we had I had to same problem. No where to get a good shot! I want to take some moon photos!!!

Same problem with me for sunset shots. I can see what would probably be great sunsets, but no place close to shoot.

Full moon is Sunday nite I believe. I have this cool little "gadget" on my desktop that shows what phase the moon is in. It's a Vista thing I can download.

Thats really neat. I have a way I can hook my camera up to a telescope, but way to confusing to me!How cool would that be.

Last month on a clear nite, I was able to take some moon shots without a telescope. I used a tripod, but my shutter speed was too long. I'm going to try again this time.

What's the plugin called for Vista Debbie?

Besides the purple haze, I think the focus was on something closer. In the future, you could try a smaller aperture (larger numerically) and get a deeper dept of field making the buildings sharper.

The purple haze? Makes me think of the song Purple Rain... lol

It also looks to me as if the camera was focused on something a little closer and the aperture used gave it a soft or lightly out of focus effect?

Andy -

It's the "sidebar" where you can add gadgets and I think it's part of Vista. I don't remember how I got it to display, but if you got Microsoft.com, you can download all kinds of different gadgets.

Thanks Debbie, I have found it I think. It's called Moon phase II and it gives the moon rise and set times along with sunrise and set times along with other data. Brilliant.

Yep - I was just looking at what I have - and that would be it. I tried a couple of others, but I like this one best.

It looks fab. Just the info I need. Now all's I need is something to tell me where the sun rises and where it sets in the area I am in and then to get there in time!
