Indeed Congratulations Janine. She is beautiful.
I love your shots, I think my favorite is the one with the feed and the thumbs, gives you a great idea of size. Brilliant.

Here is a pic I posted a few weeks ago of my little one. I think everyone here has seen it but wanted you to have a look. Is this your first Janine? You must have been a regular here before the baby was born.

Anyway, welcome back from a new regular.

Janine -

What a wonderful little treasure. I love the first shot, this should be on your wall, with followups as she grows. And what wide, bright eyes. Congratulations!!

Many congratulations Janine, she looks lovely. I like the name, will have to keep that name in mind as my second is due in May!

What camera/ lens are you using? I was thinking of getting the Canon 50mm 1.8 prime lens as it is apparently very good for potrait shots and good in low light (less need to use a flash).

Not sure I did, I have been working away for a a few weeks and am catching up with life again!!!

I take it, it was about the 50mm lens?

Don't go to any trouble. I think I have made my mind up to get one to use as a potrait lens for when 'baby' arrives. That lens and a tripod should be able to combat the lack of flash (I am a little neurotic about using a flash on babies, all that light and such new eyes, it is bad enough when my 33 year old eyes wake up in the morning and try getting used to the light, imagine just coming into the world and having flash photography in your face. It would be like, 'no let me back in, don't want to stay here, too bright!!!!!)

I have heard that when taking pictures of babies less than 6 months to not use flash - it's too hard on their eyes. And when will that "baby" be here??

Hey do you know when my little one was a few weeks old I took her to Olan Mills to have her first portraits taken and the photographer was training someone else, well he put my daughter on one of those belly boards and of course being only a couple of weeks old she laid her head straight ! Well, he took part his hand and put it over her nose and mouth and she lifted her head to pull away from his hand (instinct of course) and he told her that is how to get the baby to lift its head for the photo...needless to say he snapped the photo as she lifted her head and then I LIFTED her out of the place! That is one reason why I want to do my own portraits...we have bad luck with photo places. My little one just had her five year old photos taken and there is a blue background showing through on the supposed to be red background. It is on a post on here somewhere.

Any you didn't sue them? I have to believe that's very dangerous with a new baby. I'm not into portraits (well, grandsons), but I think with a new baby you have to be very careful!!

Wow...Susan..this would have made me so mad...I'd been saying a few choice words as I was heading out the door. I've read about so many photographers who got into photography because of the poor service and quality they were getting from a photographer. You go girl!

Oh yeah they received a phone call! They were supposed to refund my money for my portrait club and NEVER did. This IS a practice they use on newborns - now I know why their photos of newborns usually have their mouth WIDE open!

Andy they told me I could come in and they would reshoot her photos, but I decided against it because I wasn't happy with their photos, and there is always a LONG LONG LONG wait, even with an appointment!
