Just out of curiosity - has anyone or is anyone planning on shooting the eclipse tonite? I know it's a little late to be asking, but just a thought. For some of us, it's going to be very cold if we give this a try.

ok I did go out and try to get a couple of moon photos but I was freezing, so they didn't turn out that good.http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/gallery/files/8/2/8/moon_on_2_20_08.jpg

I was so excited leading up to the luner eclipse. The few nights before were so clear and the moon was brilliant so I decided to take my camera to work with me in order to get some shots of the Luner eclipse, Guess what, It was cloudy all night:mad: I did not see anything of the eclipse!

I did take some photos before work of various objects though and also on my way home at 6am this morning took some more pics so it was not a totally wasted opportunity.

Pictures will be posted later once I have been through them.

Sue - if this is your first time shooting the moon, these aren't bad. I was out last nite too, but it got too late to post pictures - I don't know if I'll get it done tonite yet, but I will post some. We had a very clear sky - absolutely no clouds.

Yeah - but with that clear sky was a cold wind.

Tell me about it. Most of my night is spent outside and this week has been very cold. When the wind gets up, it's that cold my ears hurt!

We're finally getting above 0 and away from really cold windchills for a few days, but dropping back down again the middle of next week. I am so ready for Spring and warm weather.

Yeah it was but I didn't care how good they were composed or even what setting I was using. I was freezing cold and could not get my tripod to stand level, so I just snapped them..so those are my snapshots

I did take a few and will post them. However I made a beginner's mistake. As things got darker and darker, the lens could no longer focus, so I turned focus off. I wanted to check that I was at maximum zoom and touched the focus ring instead. By that point, it was too dark to get the camera to focus automatically... and it was VERY difficult to get a clear shot. My last few are therefore, out of focus (and we won't post those), however I do have a couple worth showing.

I will post as quickly as I can.

I think it is really neat to see all the different ways that our photos turned out, since we all live somewhere different. My second one was so blurry because I was shaking from hypothermia!

I think the next one is in August so it should be a little warmer then.
Hopfully there will not be any clouds in the air too then.

The next lunar eclipse? Thats in August, yes... but 2010... lol.

There are many full and partial moons, though, and those can be just as much fun to take. :)
