Over this past weekend, I took my kids to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. The aquarium sits on a 5 acre site and features a collection of over 11,000 animals representing over 500 different species. Popular exhibits include the interactive Shark Lagoon (where you can actually pet some sharks) and the Lorikeet Forest, where you can feed nectar to the colorful lorikeets. Needless to say the Lorikeet Forest was the highlight of the day for my kids, and I got to snap a few shots of these very colorful birds as they got up close and personal with us.

Thank you so much, Marianne. The whole enclosure they had these birds in was really very cool. They would fly right by us and I even felt the wind from their speed a couple of times. When we purchased some nectar to feed them, they came right over, hopped on my daughter's arm, and drank right from her hand. We had such a good time.
Eddie, these are such beautiful shots of the Lorikeets. You color and detail in each is fantastic.
It is great that you are able to view some of our Aussie birds over there. I only need to look out the window:)

Thank you, Kaye. These birds were just gorgeous, I'm glad we got the chance to see them as well. The first shot in this series actually just won a macro themed contest. Blew me away!
Eddie, I am not surprised that your first shot won a macro contest, the detail is immaculate. Was this on faa?
(I just won a couple on faa... one of which was juried, so was very happy).

That's fantastic, Kaye, congratulations!! This contest was on Facebook, I haven't entered it yet in any contest on FAA.
Thanks Eddie, just need to sell more!
