Here is a shot I took at the weekend, again it is HDR and tonemapped (but not as severe as my church shot)

Beautiful Tom. This is something that I want to try so bad! Right now, where I live it is nothing but snow, so I wouldn't have any nice colors to go with the photo. I guess I will wait until spring. If you do more will you please share? Thanks!

This is beautiful. Do you have a workflow on how to do this and are you willing to share??

This is absolutely stunning, Tom..great exposure and great work on your part to get all those colors. Since I just finished studying my lesson 5, I can see all the elements in your photo..framing, diagonal lines, leading lines and rule of third. You did great! I'm definitely going to have to do some studying on this HDR stuff.

This is stunning, colros are vibrant and rich. What time of day was this shot.

Thats the thing with HDR... it doesn't matter what time of the day... one takes several pics so that you range from deeply under to over exposed and the application takes the best of each section and fuses it into a unique blend of very interesting results.

Hi, yes I do have a workflow....and of course I am willing to share! I know it is not the quickest way and some Photoshop pros will sigh lol, this is how I work through my images (remember I am not a pro and have more time than those fellas and ladies hee hee)
1stly I take my shot in RAW, then open it in PS and adjust nothing but the exposure value, the first version I underexpose to get all the detail I can in the sky, I then re-open the RAW shot and do a 'normal' exposure, re-open the RAW shot and overexpose for shadow detail.
2ndly I have 3 shots open in PS so I then save each one to the desktop as a TIFF ctrl-shift-s (just to prove what an amateur I am I name them q1,q2,q3 lol), minimise PShop
3rdly...open Photomatix Pro (hope you have this?if not you can download a trial version which allows full use of the software but leaves a watermark if you save your image), once in Photomatix Pro ctrl+g to generate HDR image, browse to your saved tiffs and ctrl click on each one, then ok, the prog will come up and tell you that the images are not of different exposures and gives you the choice of manually adding exposure values or using the ones generated by the prog, I always use the generated ones, then you are presented with the worst image you are ever likely to see!!!! This is HDR in all its glory on your monitor (which is unable to display HDR images), so now you need to adjust the image so that it looks nice! ctrl+t will bring you into the Tone Mapping area, this is where you have to adjust the image to your own liking using the various slide controls....if you want any more info please don't hesitate to ask.....and many thanks for the kind words folks. As said below this it doesnt really matter what time of day you shoot when using HDR, this was actually taken at around half past one in the afternoon...luckily it was fairly overcast!;)

Thank you Tom - didn't get a chance to bracket shots this weekend, but will hold onto this for reference.

The link to their site is www.Photomatix.com but I tested it out this morning and it's not respondng. They had a trial version of their software there that I thought would be fun to try out.
I've bought this program and will get into playing more with HDR later on, right now, I am working hard on getting my basics down... the weekly assignments/challenges are helping a lot. :)
