It is interesting, but what was your goal with this effect?

well basically I just wanted to try and create a contemporary feel for her, she is a hairdresser and wants to build a portfolio.

Ok... well, in this case, I think you need to go less contemporary and more reality when it comes to a hairdresser's portfolio. Clients want to look at a pic of a hair design and say "I want hair like that". In this case, I do not feel that this picture touches that angle, but that doesn't mean its a bad pic... it just means that its not the right pic for the requirement (in my humble opinion only). I'm not seeing anywhere near enough of the design to say its good or bad and the PPing is distracting from your goal.

Most hairdressers have magazines on the topic... take a look at a few of the ways other photographers captured this topic and start from there as a base. :)

Sorry when I said she wanted to build a portfolio I meant that this was to be a 'cover' shot for her folder, she is still at college and obviously a hairdresser needs hair shots lol....anyway she likes it and thats all that really matters lol:D
