Hi all
I am looking at this lens Sigma 10-20 for some landscape shots obviously.
Does anyone have one or know anyone that has one.
Some thoughts or opinions on it would be greatly appreciated.
Also I am looking at the canon 10-22 for comparison, I dont know if their is any difference that would effect me, so as I say any thoughts would be great
best regards
John

I have the Sigma DC EX HSM 10-20mm but it is on a Nikon, not a Canon. For all intents and purposes, its the same lens.
First the bad:
- Its not a fast lens, so in low light... longer shutter speeds.
- There is some distortion... but then again, there is distortion on ALL ultra wide angle lenses.
The good:
- It gives a warm feel to all pics
- It's tack sharp
- The wide angle effects are incredible

It takes some getting used to, but once you have it down, the Sigma 10-20mm does not disappoint.

I don't know the Canon line of lenses in great detail... but I will likely say that with the exception of Canon "L" lenses, then the Sigma is the equal of whatever Canon may have.
Why don't you go to a local store that handles both and try them both out on your camera? Personally, I have never read anywhere on the net of anyone that bought the Sigma and was unhappy.

yeah im in spain at the moment and thats what im thinking of doing but and looking at them both tonight on the PC would be ideal, but they are closed tomorrow so this evening is my only chance.
So you would reckon the Sigma.
Im edging towards that anyway........the extra 200 euro is probably not justified.

Well, as I said, between the Canon or Sigma, I cannot tell you, since I am a Nikon user. I am very happy with my Sigma, thats about the best I can tell you. :)

John -
I have the Canon 10-22mm and am still learning how to use it. When I first got it, I was disappointed, but with practice, I have learned to like it and know where it works best. Here is a link to some of the pictures I've taken with this lens.

Believe it or not the store didnt have any sigma lenses left, so guess what happened, yes I got the more expensive canon.
Its a fine lens though.Same as debbie still getting used to it,but a nice piece all the same.
