This picture was taken in very high winds, I dont think it has turned out too bad but let me know what you think.

I've always loved castles and I am a little jealous that you are right there and have taken sucha good pic!
I felt that we could have drawn out a little more detail so I looked at the EXIF information and saw that you used an F/10 aperture and a 10 second shutter speed. That aperture made a nice starburst effect around the lights, but it left the castle a little darker. Also, one thing that I could not find is what ISO you were using, it was not in your EXIF data? I think it was a bit higher than normal becuase I see saw noise in the darker areas of the shadows.
I hope you don't mind, but I took your pic, brightened it up just a little, added some nooise removal and then sharpened it up 10%.
These are the results that I got:

If you did not want your pic modified, please let me know, I will erase it. :)
Your pic made me wish I was there!

Andy - a little dark, but nice shot. I like what Jerry did to help capture the reflection in the water.

I'm with Jerry....I'm danged jealous. Makes my barns look so blaa.. This would have been a great photo to take at dusk with the sky just a bit light enough to see the outline more of the castle..But, considering your windy conditions, I think you did great! Now, I know why you took so many photos...I'd have done the same if I'd had such wonderful landscapes to capture.

Thanks all.
Jerry, I dont mind at all. I do like what you did with the shot.
I think the ISO was 200. To be honest, I never even gave the ISO setting a thought! (Bad Boy!)
Sadly Mary, I was unable to take the shot earlier as most days I was out all day at one location or another and did not get back until after dark.
The days I did get back early it was raining! Finally, I saw my chance on this particular day but I had been out and was on my way back. As I said the wind was very bad, so bad that some of the shots I took even with the tripod were shaken. The wall that you can see in Jerrys shot better, is the wall I was hiding behind to try and get some shelter.
I do have some other shots of the castle which I will have a play with and see what they look like and then post one here.

Hi Andy
I much prefer the second one, better lead in lines and better composition. Spot on!

Andy - the second is a lot better. You can see more detail with just enough light.

Considering there were strong winds, it looks great.
I do prefer the second one, it looks fantastic. You have inspired me to go to Conwy - The last time I went I was about 10 yrs old - I will look at in a different way now (through a lens)!

Laura, There are many great places for photography around the Conwy area. I went at easter for a week on my own visiting various places and I am going again next week. I love the area.
If you do decide to go, drop me a pm and I'll try and send you some of the places I visited which are well worth a try.
