Sue -
I don't have either one, but I've heard the Spyder2 is better and easier to use.

Thanks. I do not know anything about any of those calibration kits. The price is around the same, so I was curious which one was better.

Sue -
My neighbor has the Spyder 2. I'll ask him how he likes it. I know he just got a new monitor for calibration.

I had a friend bring over his Spyder 2 and calibrate my monitors, its quite easy if you follow the directions.
Normally, one is not going to need to calibrate their monitor unless they have a professional need for accurate colour rendition, do a lot of printing of their pics on quality printers or are really demending of getting the absolute best results possible.

Thanks Debbie...and Jerry it is something that is required for my courses at school. I have several items that I have to purchase, and that is one of them. Thanks!

Debbie,
I would recommend the Spider 2 Express. It's the least expensive and very easy to use. Does a good. My prints from WHCC look extremely close to what I see on the monitor. Later, if you want to get more advanced you can just upgrade the software.

Thanks Larry. I have not had any "good" comments about the Huey, so I guess I know which one I am going with. The school didn't tell us which one we had to buy, so I will go with this one. Thanks everybody!

Yes I have Spyder2Pro and have used it for many years. Easy and user friendly. Reminds me, I must be due to recalibrate!

Great...I ordered mine, and I will get to see very soon!
I know as your monitor gets older, you should calibrate at least once every two weeks or so. The color can change that much on the monitors. Learn something new everyday!

Does this device also adjust the contrast and brightness of the monitor also? Thanks

Firstly you need to know how to do manual adjustments on your monitor. Dig out the manual if need be. It is best to calibrate with your room fairly dim. Do not have your lights turned on, nor sunshine streaming. Attach the device to your screen and the software will firstly tell you to adjust the brightness and contrast. Then it will go through a lengthy process of establishing the colours etc. You have various ways of adjusting these once the software tells you what to do. You can select the RGB sliders instead of Kelvin. With RGB you must only adjust one at a time and it will update this information and you keep playing until all three colours are correct. It is all very easy as long as you know the controls on your monitor initially. Just follow the prompts.
Can use on LCD or CRT. This is a simple recap.

Does the express version calibrate multiple monitors on 1 system? Thanks

Good question because I have multiple monitors on one system. Can I do both, or just one? It doesnt really matter, because I only use the other one to drag my tools over on to clear up some space on my main monitor.

If I read the main spyder site right, spyder2express only will calibrate 1 (one) monitor. Pro versions 2/3 can calibrate, I think, 2 or more monitors on 1 system.
Can someone confirm this? Can you choose which of my 2 monitors I want spyder2express to calibrate, or does spyder see your monitors as one, as both are affected by the calibration. If this is the case it will mess one of them up while correcting the other I'm sure. In my case I have 1 CRT and 1 LCD.
I would love to get Spyder2express. The price is good, but I would want both my monitors calibrated properly.

Hi, looking back at earlier threads on this subject, just wondering if anyone is using the Spyder2Express and if so how you find these.

I ended up buying a spyder 3 elite. It does a very good job. I have 3 monitors, 2 LCD and 1 CRT. The CRT left slight yellow cast that I haven't figured out yet, but I'm sure it's something I'm doing, or since it is a very old monitor, it have have an issue. But in any regard, it was worth it. Cause I print off a lot of pictures and have always had a problem getting the pictures to match the monitor. now they come very very close. I have some fine tuning on my end, but I like the product.
