The neighbor kid calls 'em "spitoonias". heh. These were freehand with the Fujifilm (odd name, eh? no film!) taken at dusk in the "Natural light mode" so, they ain't the best. Just took 'em for the colors. mmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah.

Oh, isn't it great to see pictures in color! These are beautiful, Gary...I plan on having lots and lots of color around me this summer...the drab winter lasted way too long. Bring on the flowers...I'm ready!

I wish I could plant lots of flowers too, but we live on sand and the hot south Texas sun doesn't help either.

You could do raised beds or hanging baskets. Check into a misting system to cool things down inexpensively. I put my own in very easily. I have to do raised beds because we don't have soil... we have clay -- nice red clay!

Like Gary said, you could use raised beds or plant in baskets. There are lots of ways to add flowers and if you pick drought and heat tolerant varieties, you could have plenty of color. Vinca loves it as hot as the dickens and they don't require a lot of water. Just a good soaking once a week will keep them happy. Blue Vic Salvia is the same way. Or plant some of varieties of sedum. They like it hot and dry but will give you some color. Live Forever Sedum has a pretty lime green cluster in the summer and changes to pink and then bronze during the fall. And the hotter and dryer, the better they do.
I would definitely try the raised beds. I could not survive without flowers...they are my biggest passion.

So colourful!

I've not had a great interest in flowers, but my mother wants to do a litle something in front this year, so I am going to help her.

Last year we had some tomatoes and cucumbers in a raised bed in the back yard... we had tons of cucumber and tomatoe salads for MONTHS, and they were so good!

I have some petunias planted out but they are no where near the flowering stage yet. Other plants I have put out have died becasue we are still getting frosts!

My tulips are nearly ready to flower but I have noticed an awful lot of greenfly on them, anyone know a good cure for it.

Very nice capture by the way Gary

Gary that is my favorite plant! In the summer I have those everywhere!I have them in flower beds, but I really love my hanging coconut baskets. I really find peace in dead heading those plants, and for some reason I can get them to grow like crazy! Anything else :( I am not very good at. I love your photos, and the water droplets are great! Nice color saturation as well.

You can use what I've always used....nice and cheap and works fantastic...Lemon Joy mixed in a hose end sprayer..bugs hate lemon. I have to use it every spring on the Live Forever to take care of the little black flies...soak them all down and I don't see the flies anymore.
