Difficult to believe this is the same Mourning Dove. Images taken about 15 seconds apart. Shot with the S700.

Jerry, I read somewhere that they puff out their feathers like that as temperature control - greater surface area absorbs more heat. It was rather chilly when I shot that. Of course, they can't fly in that condition so, just before he took off he "normalized".
Most of the birds that frequent my feeders SHOULD go on a diet, though. I think I feed them a little TOO well. :D

Wow. Great shots Gary. It's amazing the way they can do that. It doesnt look like the same bird at all.
