I have a bran New Canon 17-40L /f4 lens. I bought this lens from B&H Photo 2 weeks ago. This is one of the best wide lenses Canon makes. And of course the “L” series lenses ARE the best Canon make. Do a search on this lens, and you won’t read a bad report on it. It simply is one of the best wide lenses you can buy. It’s great for just about any kind of photography.

This lens cost me $679.00 plus shipping. After B&H opens up on Monday, I was going to call them and request a return order and get a refund. This lens hasn't even been on a camera yet.

The reason I want to return it, is I'm finding that I really want to do nature and such that will require a long lens. I just ordered a Canon 100-400L due to be delivered next week, and have to fund it somehow. I really wanted to try and keep the 17-40L for other uses, but due to I have already over spent, I have to come up with some cash fast.

I thought I would give my friends here the chance in case someone wants it. I would be willing to sell this for $660.00, and I will pay for shipping, and paypal of course.

Also I'm thinking about getting rid of my second body and accessories. Here they are.

Canon XT, silver and black
Battery grip
6 batteries
remote shutter release
wireless shutter release
2 battery chargers
I also have all documentation for everything.

It there is any interest here, I will be glad to answer any questions and provide photo's of all of it. Everything is in mint condition. The XT has one small scratch on top of the flash flip. Very unnoticible(sp), but still there. If you want this setup, we can talk about a price.

Also, tonight at 9pm, there are two auctions going up on eBay for 2 lenses:

1. Here is a Vivitar 100-400mm 1:4.5-6.7 lens for sale. I’ve had this lens for a few years now. Glass is perfect. Lens has never been dropped or mishandled. Focusing ring is a little rough at times, but AF has always worked for me. This lens has been used for shooting wild life mainly.

2.This auction is for a Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lll, in MINT condition. This lens has seen limited use, but takes excellent photographs. I bought this lens a few years ago, and it has served me well. This lens is in PERFECT condition. NO marks, scrapes, dings, or anything. It also comes with a Canon 58mm UV HAZE filter I’ve had on the lens all along to protect the lens glass. Also comes with both end caps.

If you are interested, and we can come to terms on either of these lenses, I will stop the eBay auction.

Thanks for looking
Joseph

Hey Joseph,
This is a longshot, but do you still have the owners manual for that Canon XT? I have misplaced mine somehow and I'd really like to get another one. Thanks!

Hi Vicki. I actually think I do still have it. Let me look around.

Joseph - isn't the 100-400 you have now an "L" lens?? Since I got the 50D, I've been tossing around keeping or selling the XTI. Hubby thinks I should keep it as a backup, but the thought of carrying two cameras makes my back hurt. Good luck on selling everything else.

Vicki - If Joseph can't find the manual, it's still available online at Canon:

Yes I have the same as you. 100-400L.

The Xt and stuff at the top of this thread I decided to keep as my backup. And still use it as a quick grab and go camera.

Backup cameras come in handy. When I sent my 40d and lenses in to have calibrated I used my XT quite a bit. And since you probably can't get a lot of $ for it, it's probably worth more to you to keep it. That's what I found anyway.

WOW - am I dense. As I read your reply, I noticed the date of the original post - April. I think it's time for some spiked egg nog.

I keep a 20D for the same reason, it's worth more to me.

I'd love your 17-40 but I'm already over spent. :) Don't forget to look at the Sigma Tele/Zoom lenses, the quality is excellent.

Edit
I've just notice the date too, I'm years out. :)
