Several changes have been made to the POTM to make it less confusing for participants and stop penalizing late submissions. Until now, the photo submitted earlier at the beginning of the contest had a greater chance of getting more votes because voting opened at the same time as the submissions. This should no longer be an issue under a new scheme.
