Ok here is an image for you to work with.
I have uploaded the before photo for you. I will show you my after version later.
This photo was taken on a lovely tropical evening stroll along the Esplanade walkway in Cairns. The building is the Pier and behind it has all the marina where all the big boats go out to the Great Barrier Reef. Have fun!

ok everybody...take this photo, and manipulate it! Lets see what we can come up with! This will be fun.
okay not sure which way this is really meant to go, so as I like this shot quite alot I just finished the processing for the way I though it should look.
Guess I should have listed my steps, added some warmth did a levels adjustment and a selective color adjustment to bring out more white in the clouds, then did some burning on the mid-tone area of the clouds and ran some noise reduction prior to a smart sharpen.

That is beautiful. I am still working on mine, in between my photography assignments at school.

ok here is mine. I sharpened it a little, lightened it a little, adjusted the color sat. up just a tiny bit, and also added a little bit of light through the clouds. I will be honest...landscapes are the subject I have the hardest time with. You can now see the details in the trees, BUT the clouds are a little noisy.

Nicely done. OK here are a couple of mine. Cannot remember what manipulation I used. I am sure you can figure it out though.
Anybody else wants to post a challenge for us?

Okay - I'm not very good at removing/replacing backgrounds then blending, but here is my try at it.

Here is my choice for help. My goal was to try to capture how blue the ice is during a cold winter day.

OK this was just a VERY VERY quick Manip, so the edges are not clean, and I didn't use my wacom pen, so it is kinda rough around the edges, but I was taking a quick break from school work, and thought I would make something real fast.I didn't blend the edges yet, so it looks cut and pasted. Debbie, the next break I take I am trying yours! http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/gallery/files/8/2/8/far_apart.jpg

Thank you Jackiee - the trees are the background from when my son and DIL got married.
Ingrid - it looks like the white snow got blown out. I've really struggled with this one as well so I've just left it alone. This was taken along the N. Shore in MN this past winter and the ice was a wonderful soft blue against the white and I havent' been able to replicate what I saw in person. Still learning how to expose for snow.

840OK Debbie one last try from me on this one. The photo of yours is great, love it.
Oh just checked the preview and it looks a little brighter since upload. Oh well, you get the idea of what I was trying to accomplish. Seeing I live in the tropics, I am using my imagination. ;)

Yes Ingrid - this is very close. I think this is one of those photos that is very difficult to capture what was originally viewed.
