had trouble printing b&w on Canon I9900. Went down the calibration road with no success. So i bought an Epson stylus photo 1400. I am thrilled with the color results, however, now b&w instead of being blue and white as it was on the Canon is brown and white similar to sepia on the Epson. Does anyone have any idea why I can not print a black and white photo on anything? When I send them to the lab they come back fine.

Yes. Calibration.

To get colours "true" on the screen and on the printer, you have to have your screen calibrated. You also have to then calibrate your software to the printer that you are using. Finally, to add to the challenge, its not just a matter of what software and printer you are using, but also that your settings will have to precisely match brand and model of photo paper you are using.

There are entire chapters written in books explaining this. Its not that easy, but, once you understand... its not that hard.

Try looking up the following online for a start:

- Spyder screen calibration
- Printer Profiles
- screen photo-proofing
- photo paper profiles

I hope this helps. :)

Hi,

2 suggestions:

use QTR 'Quad tone rip to print b&w
or
use lightroom (b&w print setting)

Disable printer color mgt.
