Great shot, the only thing I think I would have done is to lose the foliage in the top right of the screen as I find it distracting. great DOF.

oh hi, thanks for all comments - i never even noticed any replies! :rolleyes:

i only now noticed the little bit of foliage in the corner, and you are quite right about the distraction! cant believe i never noticed it before!!!

i assume they grow wild in that area. i have no idea what they are called - i dont know anything about anything when it comes to fauna and flora! sorry!

The plant is a thistle. It is considered by gardener in uk to be a weed and are usually removed from their gardens. shame really it is a nice flower

Funny, a thistle was one of the very first things I photographed with my D200 first when I just got it!

I like yours better, though, as it shows more of the colour of the flower inside. :)
