Is it to late to learn about cameras at 72?

I recently puchased a Canon 40D with a 70-300 lens,its still in route by UPS.I don't even have batteries for the camera yet, thats how new to the game I am.

I know from nothing but want to learn,I have enrolled in the online course and hope to kick off the study habits tomorrow.

I'll be here reading and trying to learn,its all very mind boggeling(sp) at the moment.

I live in Rosenberg,Tx (near Houston).

Welcome to the forums Dick. At 72 years young, I think you are just hitting your prime to learning photography. I feel that photography is about 50% technical and 50% creative. I think you'll learn a lot from the course and it's a really good deal. Also, the forums have some really friendly and helpful people. Besides, you've probably got plenty of grand children and great grand children to practice on. Have fun and enjoy your new hobby.

Absolutely not! I started last year at 61. I'm still learning... but I *am* learning!

Yep, I will be 63 yrs next month and I am just starting to live!
Each day I study and I have returned to my profession as a midwife as well. Mainly to pay for my expensive new hobby. Photography is becoming my passion and I revel in producing reasonable photos these days.

My dads in his 70's too, and though he is more a film guy than digital, he still loves the hobby. I feel its never too late to enjoy photography!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I had some time available so got an early start and finished Lesson#1.

I sent in 3 pics from the past taken with two different Digitals I have,they are just about fool proof and I got lucky with the light so I think they are decent pics.My new camera has not arrived yet.

Hi from another oldie (69). Just popped in to the forum tonight and spotted your thread. I too only started when I retired and more recently when I got a DSLR ( still looks like I'm the only one with a Pentax). I know you will enjoy the forum and the course.
