Filters????????

I bought a Canon 70-300 IS,it came with two 58mm filters,one is a Bower optical glass while the other is a Merkury UV multi-coated optical glass,which should I use and why and can you use a hood when using a filter,I haven't received the hood yet but I'm thinking it might just mount the same way as a filter,,,,,3 questions in one:confused:

use the uv all the time for lens protection and to help out with sun rays and yes you can use a hood with filters!

You might want to get a polarizing filter too if you shoot a lot of outdoor photography.
