I've finally got Photoshop CS3 :D and although I've had loads of fun trying out the different functions, I would like to learn how to use it properly, so I've been searching Amazon for a book.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried any of these books, and if you have any recommendations, or books to avoid? I am anchoring towards Adobes own book: Adobe Photoshop CS3 Classroom In A Book.
I am a complete beginner with very little knowledge and experience with any photo editing software, so I a looking for something that covers everything.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Laura,
I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 Classroom In A Book and highly recommend it. It's very indepth and gives step by step instructions and comes with a cd. It covers the features of Photoshop and how to use them. The book covers much more than most of us photographers will ever use, which in reality we as photographers use very little of PS. But it's great for learning and understanding things like layers, masking, etc. that we do use.

Thanks Larry. I'm sure there is so much I will never need to use, I just want to know how to get the best out of the program.

The best photoshop books are by Bruce Kelby, very well written and friendly, with step by step explanations. He is also involved with Adobe.
Another source on the computer is Julianne Kost videos. Just google her name or go to the adobe site

Yes Scott Kelby. My suggestion is if your work is centered around photography, then get a book like one from Scott Kelby that focuses on CS3 work for photographers. I believe it is titled something like Adobe CS3 for Photographers. If you want to learn everything is is to know about CS3 then this book wouldn't be the one.

I owne several of the Kelby books and they are great. I'm also very happy with Photoshop CS3 by Mark Fitzgerald and Layers by Kloskowski. You really need the full version of photshop to use these last two books.
