Taken in Cornwall today, absolutely no atmosphere to it colour, so decided to have a mess about in elements 6 to get the effect i wanted
Yes it is intended to be grainy, i wanted the look of the beginning of a 1930's black and white film ..... hope it worked

I like the grain on this image. It's really hard to get digital grain to look as good as the grain in film. Film in the 30 had lots of contrast and didn't handle the mid tones well. I think this image would really rock with some curves adjustments to kick up the hightlights. I also think this is a very solid image that would stand very well on it's own. Good eye and capture.

I really like the mysterious aura that this photo has. The grain adds to the story. Can we see the color version if you have one?

I am not a fan of grained look, but I must admit you did a good job on yours. I would have taken the sharpening just back a teeny weeny bit. But who knows, I could be wrong. We all have our points of view and that is what is so great about us sharing. Happy snapping :)

I love the black and white version. It adds more mystery. Reminds of something from maybe the 30's/40's and the old Frankenstein movies.

I was in Cornwall the week after you took your Pics. Would have liked to have done some shoots of the Mine Engine House's but as I was not driving and in a mini coach, had to go with the flow, Like the B&W version, as if it was all those years ago. Really enjoyed our visit to St.Ives, 42 years after we spent our honeymoon there, so I'm giving a clue as to my age.

Thanks for info on where shot taken. We hope to get back again to Cornwall in the not so distant future. We were based in Liskeard and did all the usual tourist spots.
Next adventure is a trip of a lifetime in November to Capetown to visit our Son, so should get a few shots!!, He has planned visit to Robben Island and a game park etc.,

I like the black and white version better than the color version. Usually I am not a big fan of black and white, but I can see that it does make for a better photo.
