Well I have had not time to find someone to pose for me to trial this little baby out for portraiture. So, yes, I headed out to the garden once again to give it a run for its money.
Very nice indeed. Worth every cent.
Here are 3 samples for your cc.

Ingrid - the first one is my favorite. The pink just POPS. You did a very nice job on all three.

I love all of them but the first is my favorite because of the bright color! Nice job on all.

Your pictures are stunning... just stunning!
The 85mm primes from both Canon and Nikon have reputations for being extremely sharp and clear lenses. I am not sure if it is a combination of the focal length and lens design (being a prime), but the 85mm primes are nothing short of amazing.
Next month, I am looking to pick up Nikkor's 85mm prime, but in the F/1.4 flavor. I've been considering it for about 6 months now, and am 80% convinced that this is my next purchase. It will come in handy in October when I will be doing a lot of Octoberfest pictures of my parent's 50th anniversary in all kinds of low light situations and places.
Matter of fact, I may just order it now, so I can get used to it and be ready next month. :D

I just logged on now after a pretty full on shift at the hospital. I am beat. It is going onto midnight.
Thank you for all your lovely comments. I am not after accolades, just wanted to show you what this little tiny beast is capable of. But naturally nice to have my photos appreciated.
I cannot wait to do some nice portrait shots soon, that is why I purchased this.
Should be lots of fun. Now just have to save up for the 5D MkII yeh!
Hey Jerry why wait, go for it and buy it now. You will never regret it. Isn't this why we have credit cards sometimes?

Oh Ingrid, you may not be looking for accolades, but you're such a bad gal for posting those pics in the first place... they inspired me to go order that 85mm F/1.4 sometime today! (HA-HA!)

Yes I had another run with it today at Sunday brunch. Oh, magic indeed. You are well advised in my humble opinion to purchase this baby. You won't regret it.

Ingrid these are all great but I really LOVE the third and the last photos. They are awesome! Keep up the great work. THe last photo looks like such a tender moment between mother and child. I love it.

The pics are awesome! I've just ordered the 85mm F/1.4 and am already eager to see what it can do. :)
Mind if I blame you, Ingrid? (lol!!)

Go right ahead Jerry, I have broad shoulders and take blame for sooooo much these days :)
Can't wait to see what magic you will produce with yours.
F/1.4 hmmmm? that would be a little bit of too much bokeh for me. But it is a personal taste thing and you will no doubt have some awesome photos coming soon!
Now that you are into lenses, I took my 100mm F/2.8 Macro for a run yesterday.

Also the last 2 of the wedding portraits were taken with the 100mm lens as well

It is only money and we cannot take it with us....says I as I peruse the amount on my credit card. Right back to work for me!

lol... just looking for a fun excuse, but I decided to take the credit/blame.

In the case of the Nikon line, it's about a lot more than just the bokeh. The sharpness of the 1.4 over the 1.8 is quite different and the crispness of the colours is evident. Also online reviews support the fact that the 1.4 is in it's own little class above. I suppose there has to be a difference to justify the doubled price. I'll find out personally soon enough. :D

I read those threads and the results are really nice!

I used to live in Texas, where flamboyance rules like nowhere else. I think the Texas bumper sticker said it all:
"He who dies with the most toys... wins" hahah!

I really don't care for this saying, BUT I must admit I am an electronics junkie. I probably need to go to a support group for it. haha I love technology !

Technology? I don't think I need "help" but I do enjoy it and it is a big art of my life. :D
Let me explain to you where I saw this bumper sticker, perhaps it will better explain the joke and why I recall it so clealry;
I was driving through Dallas, and saw a HUGE 1976 metallic pink topless Cadillac with country music BLARING out the speakers. They had the huge bull horns on the car that were near as wide as the car itself. From my mirror I could see the huge 10-gallon hat moving in the wind, but my surprise was the driver... imagine, if you will an east indian gentleman, complete with turban AND that huge cowboy hat on singing away at the top of their heavily accented voice and the last thing one saw was the rear bumper of that car and that sticker, huge and proud on the back of it... I will remember (and laugh hard about), that for the rest of my life!

Sue - I'm with you. I enjoy playing with all the techie toys. Too bad I can't afford all of them.
