The pic was not huge to begin with, so I blew it up a little... this made it slightly blurry.
If no one gets this, I will show more of it. :)

looks like the base of a glass ornament???
Oh, I'll call that a close enough for the win! It is a crystal candle holder.
http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/gallery/files/1/0/0/0/crystal3.jpg
My next pic was going to be of this pic right down the center of the piece, but it was not necessary. I guess it wasn't as challenging as I had thought it would be. :D
laura

Jerry if it had been on a different surface I probably wouldn't have thought of it, but the wood looked like a shelf or something similar, and people put ornaments on shelves...

09-22-2008, 02:29 PM
Well you did good. This item was a wedding gift from a very close friend and I had not seen it in years. It came up in a recent conversation, so I took it out and used 3-point lighting to take 3-4 pics just like that (I do that during short breaks on my study days). I then had recently bought myself another CS3 plug-in and tested it out on this item (it is a plug-in that can add blur around any object you want).
I'll be getting a nice big candle for it this coming weekend. :)

laura

Its not an ostrich. Close though.
I tried to get a better photo, but as its a small part of the picture (JPeg) so won't enlarge very well. If I choose a bigger section it will give it away.

I don't know if I can really give a hint without giving it away ... It is the top of the item in question. I'll tell you this too:

calender or pda ? This is a tough one.
saykimchi
12-10-2008, 02:46 AM
Nope, it's not either of those. Once someone figures it out (or I let it out), it will be painfully clear. It's a *super* close up, so this is much closer than it seems.
So far:
1.) It's not wood.
2.) It *is* aluminum.
3.) It has nothing to do with a camera/accessory.
4.) It's the top of something.
5.) It's nothing to do with Xmas.
6.) It's not a writing utensil.
7.) It's non-electrical.
Think of a "cold one".
jerryph

andromeda143
02-04-2009, 03:05 AM
Yes, Stratford is full of tourist spots to do with Shakespeare, including his house, Anne Hathaway's Cottage and his parents' house. It is a very picturesque village, not far from Warwick, in the middle of England. Warwick also has a magnificent old castle. The area is well worth a visit. Also, just south of Stratford, within easy drive is the Cotswold Hills, with beautiful old English villages, like Stow-on-the-Wold and Upper and Lower Slaughter. You would love it. It is a photographer's dream.

Can you all start another "guess what it is 2"? having to go through all the pages to 1, try to find the most current picture and 2. reading all the responses is tiresome. Just a thought.
If you wanted, you could actually set the forum up so that the most recent posts are first, or have a variation on how they're displayed. Just go to "User CP" and then to "Edit Options". It's under "Thread Display Mode". Also, here's a description (http://www.proudphotography.com/forum/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_vb_threadedmode) of the options.
Hi Kaye,
Thanks for the comments. You are definitely right about the sky. I used the photo as is, without any processing, because I was only wanting to make a 'what is it'. However, now I will work on it to improve it. Incidentally I just looked at your website and was blown away by the Mont St Michel shots. I haven't had time to look at all of your gallery, but I will do so tomorrow. I'm sure they will be magnificent.
Regards,
Thanks Clive,
My site or blog is with a friend who lives in Portugal. He put on the Mont St Michel shots. My partner's name on blog is Jose. I think he has more nice shots on there than me, as I do not travel much. I do need to get out and about much more to get more nice shots. I live in Sydney, but if I do not travel far, I get for example, the Hawkesbury River (bit muddy) with lots of gum trees.
From memory, I think you live in Tassie ?? Am I correct ?
Would certainly love to hear more feedback from you re our blog.
Look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind regards,

I live in Melbourne, but have lived in Sydney, Armidale and Tasmania, as well as Malta. I have travelled quite a lot, but not as much now. Sydney is a never-ending source of photo opportunities. In fact the whole Coast from Eden up to Tweed Heads and beyond is very beautiful. I think Sydney has the most beautiful harbour in the world. I will have a good look at your blog and give you some feedback. I am sure it will be lovely. Your logo (The Apostles) is very good.
