I was walking around my husbands plant taking different shots of things that caught my eye. I would like to do more so that he can have posters for his office, any suggestions for taking better still shots of products would be very helpful!

Very interesting shots. I like the compositions on all of them. The first one is striking. very nice. The one thing that jumped out at me on all of them is how noisy they are. Was your iso set high? Since these shots are of still objects I would take in a tripod, set a lower ISO, and a higher shutter to get cleaner shots. You might have some luck cleaning these up with a 3rd party NR program. But I would certainly take a tripod next time, use a longer shutter and lower ISO. I like the DOF on all of them.

Thank you Joseph, I'll have to try those hints. It was my first try, and I don't think I was expecting to do what I did! But that's why I'm here, to learn about this stuff.

I really like the first photo! I also would take a tripod and use a remote shutter release or the self timer on your camera. Even if you take your finger and click the shutter button it will cause camera shake and cause you to get a blurry, out of focus photo. Use the LOWEST ISO for the clearest photo also! Hope this helps.

I think you have some nice shots here and a good eye. My approch would be to shoot them in a vertical postion, as in taking a portrait shot. Also try differant camera angles to get different lighting and perspectives. I agree with the others, the use of a tripod and shutter release is a must.
