i eventually got my nifty fifty!!! whoo hoo...a few shots of my only best and favourite subject - my daughter!!! :p

In your first post, 2nd picture, you hit a situation that you will have to be very careful with when using a lens with a big aperture. The suse is perfectly in focus, but the face of your subject is blurred.

When depth of field is shallow, be very careful on what aspect of the picture is most important to focus on. In the case of your daughter, I am sure you want her eyes (the most important aspect of a portrait shot), to be in focus.

yes i know what you mean! i was just having trouble getting used to the new lens...but point taken! and i do agree...

i know!!! i wanted to get it cut - as gorgeous as it is, its really difficult to comb out those dreadful knots - a baby of 9 months does NOT sit still long enough and she cant handle me touching her hair. if i just look as though i am on my way with a comb she crawls away in a huff!!! but, my husband wont let me near her hair with a scissors....(not that he opts for the combing out of course!)

HAHA I go through the same thing with my youngest who just turned 6. My husband will NOT let me cut her hair (trims of the bottom are ok) BUT he says he does not know how to do her hair.
