My photos have improved but I'm not happy with them. They are brighter than they used to be which is good but now they aren't as sharp, even after sharpening :(
I still think they could be brighter, ceilings particularly - any tips or suggestions?
Where am I going wrong? I'm clueless :o

Every lens has a sweet spot. This is traditionally somewhere between F/5 and F/16. Doing the research and finding out what the sweet spot for your individual lenses is an important part of getting sharp pictures.
Another way, if sharpness due to improper DOF is not the issue, is proper focus (Proper focusing is also part of the equation. Many of the more knowledgeable architectural photographers use a manual focus so that they can place the focus exactly where they need it to be). Sturdy tripods, locking the mirror in the up position before taking the shot and using either cable or wireless remote releases is all part of the process.
Using quality sharpening tools... NIK Sharpener Pro will give you superior sharpness control than gaussian blur or sharpness ncreases in other apps.
These are all pretty much part of the basics that are covered in the PP course. Get the basics down and things will start to improve fast.
