Hi everyone,
I am sadly realizing that on most of my photos, I'm losing the edges when I want to make enlargements. I know it's because of the 2:3 ratio of my nikon d-40. I am wondering what is a good rule of thumb when initially taking the pictures so that a lot of my images aren't trimmed more than I actually want. For example, I took a photo of a winding road running through the middle of a corn field, and I wanted to enlarge it an 8x10. (I use mpix), but when I looked at the photo, I noticed that some of the 8" sides would be trimmed. I know the sensor size has a lot to do with it, and I know that if I have it sized to say an 8x12, I won't lose anything. But my main concern is for regular folks who don't know too much about custom sizes and who order an 8x10 from me, I am not sure they would understand when I hand them a cut off photo.:D Am I making any sense? What do I need to do to still produce 8x10, 11x14 for most folks who only buy those size frames at the local department store? What do I need to do on my end?
Thanks everyone.
