Keeping with the low key still life theme here is one more. This one is of a couple of red bell peppers. To really be a much stronger image it could have used another pepper and better specimens. Sometimes you just have to use what's available and make the best of the situation, that's what I tried to do in this case.

Again the theme is simple and give examples of something that could be easily recreated. The black background was chosen to make the red of the peppers stand out. For this image I used a large softbox that was placed over and behind the peppers. I want to have a rim light effect and the peppers to almost blend in to the black velvet with the frontal shadows. I also used a silver reflector to the right front to add some sparkle along with the soft light to the the peppers. I used low angle to give the peppers a rim light effect and to avoid image distortion shot from a few feet back with telephoto lens.

Very nice shot. The red sure stands out with the dark background in low light.

Thanks for the kind words. Not only did I put these here for CC, but to help others that may want to do something very similiar.

Great Job Larry! I think your still lifes are excellent. I love the rim lighting on the peppers, and of course the color was great with that background.
