Our new theme for the month of December is
"Frame within a frame"
Very often, it is the way in which the photographer imposes the camera's framing on a scene that decides the outcome of the picture. The viewfinder is a cropping device, eliminating some shapes and detail, while including others. What is included and how it's arranged within the picture are functions of the camera's format and the way the photographer uses the restrictions and division of of its framing.
But the borders of the viewfinder need not be the only way of framing a picture. It sometimes happens, that part of the scene can echo the format, so that a picture within a picture is made. Although this frequently leads to a contrived image devision, there are times when it can successfully draw the attention of the viewer to the more subtle qualities of the subject. Often used examples are building details such as windows, doors, arches. Let's see what everyone comes up with this time!
