make pics smaller for uploading ? urgent!

:confused:can anyone tell me how to make my photos smaller for uploading ? i have elements 6. i cant work it out. since we are only allowed to upload 8mb in total and mine are around 6 just for one. please help asap ?????

I'm hoping I remember Elements correctly, but if not, maybe someone will correct this. You go to Image, Image Size. . . and then what I do is change the resolution from 300, to 72. This reduces it dramatically. Next, I go to File, Save for Web, and just save it, giving it a new name and paying attention to where I save it. This is similar to "Save As" and is creating a duplicate. Then upload the new file. When you close it in Elements, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT SAVE IT AGAIN!!!!! You don't want the itty bitty file over-riding your nice big, original file that you might want to print some day.
