1) I would like to see a dedicated area in the forum for contest theme suggestions submitted by members.
2) I think it would be great to know 2 or 3 months out what the contest theme will be.
3) Allow members to enter only 1 photo per contest. Each member can enter up to three photo's for each months contest as it sits today. And many enter more than three if you look at this months contest.
The PP instructor once told me when I was having trouble deciding on a few photos, that photographers have to make these decisions all the time. Which photos to throw out, which ones to keep, and which one of the best to use for certain jobs. This type of thinking should carry over to our contests. One entry per member per month. Isn't that the way most contests go? It will help steamline things a little, and maybe if we don't have so many to look at, people would spend more time with each photo, vote on every photo and comment more on them.

Thank you Joseph for your suggestions. They all make sense and I agree, we can easily make those changes.
Regarding people sending more than 3 photos allowed, we manually remove a lot of them and mostly they're not even close to the theme. We started the competition with 3 photos per person because at the beginning there were not many people participating and we didn't want to have too few photos in there. But now it would be a good time to limit the number to one photo only. Timing is good for changes as the New Year is behind the corner. Thank you, your input is appreciated.

How about changing the time limit also on making comments.
I recently went to the Dec POTM to view and leave comments and found that I had to wait 30 seconds between each comment....the site will not allow you to leave a comment within 30 sec of your last comment. Which I know doesn't sound long....but actually it is......especially if there are a lot of photos to browse thru....I found it a deterent to leaving comments.....after about 20 or so comments I gave up......any suggestions on that?
Thank you for listening :)

Wow, you're really fast making your comments in under 30 seconds :) The delay is there to prevent spam bots from suddenly flooding the forum with spam. I have decreased the delay to 10 seconds now. Please let me know if that works better. Thank you.

Joseph - I think these are great ideas, especially having a 2-3 month lead time. This may give some of us some time to think about what pictures to take or go through what we already have.

Very good ideas! Peter is correct, and now that there are many, many members and it is growing everyday, there are a ton of photos in there. I think people do not want to sift through all of them. One per person is a excellent idea at this point in the forum. Thanks!
