The short question is: When you send a file into say Proex to get printed, why is it always cropped?

The last 3 times I brought my files into Proex and had printed, they are always cropped a little. I asked one worker there and she said if you are making a 5X7 lets say, crop them to 5.2X7.2, then they should come out how you want them. Didn't work. Then I asked another worker there and she said everything gets cropped a little no matter how you format them.

Is there NO way to print what my file shows? Is there a photo finishing 101 I can get my hands on? Heck my cheap printer at home can do it, but the quality isn't there.

Thanks for any help

I have wondered that myself. Both of my pro printers (WHCC and Millers Pro lab) do that. I hate it.

Joseph - I saw this posted elsewhere a while ago but I can't remember where and how to fix. If I find the answer, I'll post it.

Joseph - I don't know if this helps, but here is a little of what I found.

And one more:
Have part of the picture cut off when ordering different size photographs is a aspect ratio (length to width ratio) problem, and has nothing to do with the number of ppi. example 6 divided by 4 = 1.5. a 4x6 print has a 1.5 aspect ratio. 10 divided by 8 = 1.25. A 8x10 has a 1.25 aspect ratio. You will have part of the picture cut off when you order a print size with a different aspect ratio. For example if you enlarge a 4x6 print by a factor of 2 to get the 8 inch width, the 6 inch length must also be enlarged by a factor of 2 to avoid distorting the picture. 6x2=12. You will loose 2 inches off of a 8x10. 8x12 prints have the same aspect ratio as 4x6 prints. 4x5 print have the same aspect ratio as 8x10 prints.

This may help, but I am now confused.
My camera is 3:2.
