If you had a 200mm Tele photo and a 70mm-200mm Zoom,,,,,,,,,,,,,,would there be any difference in the image if the Zoom were cranked out to the 200mm setting? I understand that a Tele Photo has a bit of horizontal compresssion but other than that is there a difference?

I found an answer here too,in theory if all things were equal this would be the case but manufacturing tolerances would probably keep this from happening very often, however with todays technologies and ever bettering of software a pic can be doctored to the point that it would not be noticable to the untrained eye.

lol... pretty much, yes. The thing is, things are rarely equal. There are times that the zoom is superior to the prime lens, but generally primes perform better.
The real answer is... you cannot generalize this one... each lens comparison has to be taken on a case by case basis.

Depends on what you are using it for of course. Some people do not like primes for portraits because they actually have to move.....I on the other hand, will take a prime anytime over a zoom (for portraits that is)
