Happy Saturday everyone!

Opinions on these 2 for my Rebel XTi?

I bought the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS recently and though I think it is a fantastic lens, I think it is just too much lens to have as my every day lens......I use my camera A LOT......usually follows me every where!

I love to take nature shots, close-ups, portraits, scenery, and candid shots of people on the streets in an unobstrusive manner......

I am considering returning the 70-200mm for one of these......and thoughts?

Thank you so much in advance!

My only other lenses are my kit lens 18-55mm and a Canon 50mm f/1.4

I would consider a 70-200 too much lens for everyday inside, but think it would be about right for an outside walk around lens. Even your 50mm is going to be too long for everyday inside. Your 18-55 would be perfect for your kick around inside lens.

I guess if I had your lens line up, I would go to my 18-55 for inside and 70-200 for outside automatically unless there was other needs going on lick landscapes. Just me opinion though.

shaye - have the 24-105 and it's a very good lens for WA and of course half the weight of the 70-200. While the 24-70 has better f/stop, I like the extra reach of the 24-105.

But I do agree with Joseph, the 70-200 is good for outside since you do like the nature shots - but I personally wouldn't use it for candid shots because it is a larger lens.

In the end, only you can decide what works best for you as each person will have different reasons why they carry the lenses they have.
