I am so happy there is a forum like this where nOObies like me can come to ask simple questions.
Wondering if anyone would be so kind as to tell me if this flash

Meets this requirement:
You have a strobe that can be set to manual power and "dialed down,". This is pretty much mandatory. If your flash does not have a variable manual control, you are gonne be one unhappy (and very limited) puppy. Fortunately, most good flashes have this feature. And you can easily find one that has it if you need to get it. I had assumed that Canon pro flash gear had these two basic features. But apparently, most units do not have a synch terminal. (Shame on you, Canon.)

If not do you know what would be a good flash for my Canon Rebel XTi that meets these requirements?

Thank you so much in advance and happy Sunday! :)

Shaye - I wish I could help you here. I have both the XTI (which is now a backup) and the 430EX, but I have only used the flash once.

Yes you can set this flash to shoot in manual. It goes from 1/64th to 1/1, which is full power.

Not bad for a Nikon guy, yes? (lol!)
