I would think that they mean a building, statue, river, or something that your town is know for. The Empire State Building in NYC, Reunion Tower in Dallas, etc. Just my 2 cents.

This is one of those themes that you are going to have to use your photographers imagination. This theme doesn't exactly point to a specific topic or subject. The first question I asked myself about this theme is, where do you hear the phrase, "Once Upon a Time?" Fairy Tales. This is just one example that might work. Again, your imagination will have to do some work here. Good luck.
Hey, I like that, Joseph. Very good. Fairy tales. I'd like to see what some of the studio guys and people with the cute children can do with it.
It could also be something historical, perhaps. Old farm implements. Old anything. You're mother-in-law. :)

I did a "once apon a time photo shoot a couple of weeks ago and would like to share the results.:)
You can look at them at julimucca.zenfolio.com
I will get them uploaded into my gallery on here, but for now that is where they are.
Not sure which one I want to enter yet for this months contest, but it was sure a fun theme to do!

You can always attach a link to the images so that they show up on your reply's. You can also upload the images to a particular thread as well. It's better for the viewers so they only have to open the message to view them instead of chasing down a typed url.

Product photography? Photographers are often asked to capture a new line of watches, clothing, jewelry or any other product that requires nice background, adequate lighting or "mood" for the product to look appealing. It has a lot to do with still life photography. Choose any product you like. There is an endless number of subjects - products around you. Open any magazine and you'll find it's loaded with product photography - make-up, cosmetics products, perfumes, shoes, toys, furniture, books, too many to list. You can create a DIY backgrounds using large sheets or rolls of paper or cloth.
Remember it's not only about the product alone. Important role have the props - visual elements of a scene that have supporting role for the main subject and provide extra info about the product or its purpose, usage, etc. Hope that gives you an idea.
POTM - NOVEMBER - 'BROKEN RULES"
To ADMIN and members:
From what I see, the current November POTM theme seems to be creating a few problems with those posting shots.
Perhaps a clear definition of the POTM NOV - "BROKEN RULES" may resolve this issue, as it is always good, especially when new members know exactly what type of shot can be entered.
I am not sure myself what "theme or type" of shot is appropriate here..
ADMIN may like to clarify this for some of the members posting shots to the NOV POTM.

IMO I would almost bet Kaye that the reason for this unspecific description of a contest is to get the photographer to use their imagination and get them thinking. I think it was probably vague by design. Picking out subject content with a clear and specific description is easy. One like this requires some work.
Thanks for posting this Joseph. I hadn't looked at it this way, but do agree with what you are saying.
I was really more so referring to the comments contained therein.
By when do the POTM need to be entered?
Hi Luiz,
This is a snippet from POTM rules by Admin:
"Opening dates and voting
Opening date for new photo submissions begins on the 1st day of each calendar month and is open for 3 weeks. Voting begins the last week of each month and lasts 14 days. During voting period, new photo submissions are closed for that month. The winner will be announced in the middle of the following month. For example January POTM winner will be known by the mid February and so on."
Hope this answers your question.
Welcome to the forum by the way. Look forward to seeing some of your shots.
Can you explain nightscapes? Sorry I don't understand this theme:(

That's at least how I read the theme. Others may interpret it differently.
Luiz, I follow the same thought as Joseph on this one re nightscapes, being landscapes at night.
I feel it will just give us some practice on shooting
NIGHTlights, rather than DAYlight light, if you get what I mean!
