Not sure if we are allowed to do this here. If not, moderator, please delete.
But this year I have set myself a task to do at least one photograph per day. Here are the first 5 days.

Wonderful start, Igrid. My friend and I started this last year but we started a bit late (it was Feb. 17th before we got the blog setup and the first image posted). I'd like to say we accomplished the task but we failed. For one thing, we started maybe digital layouts with our images and it took too long to get them done and posted. We are hoping to post one a week, this year.

It's hard to come up with even one good shot per day. You can find Photographic images everywhere but to capture them with quality under pressure.........nice work.
p.s. you gave me a good idea!

Tuesday 7th January. A walk in the garden and I found this.
Come on baby light my fire. Who needs fireworks when you have this?
You can listen to an oldie song while you view this as well :)

I've set the task to blog a pic once a week... and already I know I will be late. It's January 6th, 1 day away from week 1 being up but I am working 18 hour days and have no time for at least 2 more days to look at the project.
Oh well sometimes Photography has to take a 2nd seat to life.

I'm doing this too Ingrid, am enjoying it very much even though it only 6 days in. And I'm sure it will get harder as the year goes on.
I have set up a blog. I am hoping to see an improvement as the year goes on!
Even though the photos I choose for each day may not be technically perfect or really interesting and inspiring, some are even just quick 'snap-shots' of the day, I am hoping it is going to serve well as a 'diary' of 2009, capturing events and occassions (big and small) Some days not a lot happens :(, so my challenge to myself is to try new things, look for new photo opportunities around me.
Ingrid, your photos are really beautiful...puts mine to shame! Good luck. :)

Looks like you have started a new year ball rolling. As I said on another thread, I had come to conclusion I was not using my time well and need to get out shooting. So, cold as it is, will just get on and set some tasks/ projects.
Love your pictures so far in your 365 project.

Ingrid - you are truly an inspiration. Lovely shots. Your dedication is admirable. If the weather here didn't get so cold, this would be a tempting project as I'd rather shoot outdoors than in.

Thank you all for the support. For my friends stuck inside....come on! There are still life images, reflections, candlelight shots, water droplets, glassware, textures, macro work. If all fails, you have toenails :)
Would you want me to continue posting my daily images here or not? Not sure whether I should. Maybe it is time to start a blog somewhere. But my time is so limited as well. So not all photos will be all that great, but at least I will try. Mind you last night when I could not sleep I told myself how idiotic this was to put myself under more pressure.
Here is 007/365 I was happy with this one. I used my favourite Canon 70-200mm F2.8 lens. (yes building up muscles handholding)

Number 8 Master Nicholas - grandson was obliging. I have to love the little fellow to bits. Taken with 70-200 lens.
Number 9 Just a plain leaf in the garden. Our wet monsoon is here, so most of my images from the garden will be with water droplets :) Taken with 100mm macro lens.
Trying to vary my days photoshoots. It will be a challenge.

Beautiful and right up to your standards, Ingrid. Might I ask...is the blue flower a hibiscus? It looks like my hibiscus in the front of the porch. Not now, of course, its too cold. I didn't comment on your previous images of your grandson and the leaf. Your grandson is adorable! Is this the one that you were expecting and were taking photos of his mom while she was pregnant?
The leaf image is awesome. Love the bokeh!

Mary, you have an incredible memory girl. Yes that is the gorgeous red head that had Nicholas beginning of August.
The blue flower posted yesterday is a Hydrangea and I cannot grow them. But my friend out of the valley can but only in one certain spot in her garden. Not a flower normally grown in the tropics, hence my excitement of always seeing it. Reminds me of my childhood in Germany.

01-11-2009, 08:09 PM
And my fingers did not type what my brain was thinking so memory is all I have...LOL....I meant Hydrangea but typed Hibiscus which I knew it wasn't since a Hibiscus is a huge, plate size bloom...LOL...I have three Hydrangea's at the front porch that I need to move. They can take a little sun but not the hot, west sun that they are getting now. We had to cut the tree down that shaded them and they aren't doing as well as they used to. I'll move them around to the north side of the house where they will like it better. I have two on the north and one on the east side of the house. The one on the east side is shaded by a big tree most all day. I'm surprised that they don't grow well in the tropics. They like moisture and shade but maybe you get too much moisture.
Nicholas is an adorable child. I'm wondering if he will have moms gorgoreous red hair?

Moisture we have alright. Presently we are having a huge deluge with probable local flooding. Not sure what the next 24hours will bring as the cyclone has moved on land now heading from the gulf to Cairns. As we speak, we have had nearly 5 1/2 inches already since 9am yesterday. Some places have had >12 inches. So anything is a go right now. But we are supposed to fly south tomorrow 5am to collect our new dog. Murphy's Law!!!

Well - I am failing miserably at even trying to get out weekly. So - I brought the camera with me today. Going out after work to take photos of ice houses. Yes, you heard me right - ice houses. In MN, we have a tradition of setting up houses on our frozen lakes and go fishing. One local lake celebrates this great tradition by having people have set up and decorate these houses with various themes. Hope to post a couple of my pictures later.

Debbie, do try. Once you start you will pleased with yourself and it is a progression of how your photography evolves.
Ok a few more daily shots. To 21st January. It is hard to keep up but will do my very best. My personal challenge!
1. Needs to be opened up to be appreciated. Not it is not fireworks.
2. I enjoyed photographing this macro. First time yellow was not a challenge.
3. The simplicity of this I enjoyed with the terra cotta pots in the background. Love my macro lens :)
4. Leaves can be very interesting when you take the time to study them. The rick rack pattern was so interesting.
5. This is sort of abstract I feel. Just water droplets caught in this very tiny tiny web. Not too sharp however.

Wow - what a terrific idea. Ingrid, I appreciate your descriptions and note about what lens you used for your shots - all are lovely! I'm not too creative, so an exercise like this would really help me see things I've ignored before! Maybe I'll start Feb. 1 - weekly might be manageable!

Wonderful images, as usual. I really, really like the simplicity of the little flower in front of the clay pots. That one, to me, would be beautiful in a huge print, matted and framed. My second choice is the leaf. I just like how you made a leaf into a work of art by just focusing on the very middle of it.
I know how hard it is to keep up with a photo a day. I tried last year but didn't make it. Maybe when I'm retired, I'll have more time.

OK I am going according to plan. 1 per day. But a very long time to go.
1. This macro was shot with my 70-200mm f2.8 lens. It is a birds nest fern and another species of fern trying to pop out.
2. Love my fungii on the Mango tree. It was a branch that was dead and the sun was just in the perfect place. I think this was the 100mm macro f2.8
3. Oh yes, fun with the macro. Just some little entwined bits in the rain forest.
4. Yes a challenge for me...land & seascapes. This was taken with the 24-105 f4 zoom lens
4. I am certain this was with the 100mm macro.

Ok here are the next 5 shots.
Now is anyone out there being good and challenging themselves?
You will find that most of my photos are taken with the 100mm macro and telephoto 70-200mm lens.

Ingrid, I never, ever tire of viewing your images. They are the most stunning images I've even seen and I can look at them forever. I absolutely LOVE the one with the mushrooms on the tree branch and the ocean images are wonderful. The one with the small amount of sand in the right hand corner is worthy of a gallery hanging. The capture of the light through the mushrooms is so creative. You are a wonderful photographer.
But.....the last image you have posted in your 365 project was clear back in Feb. Did you give up on it? I tried doing this last year but failed miserably. I might try it again someday.

Thank you Mary. I gave up posting here as I thought it did not create too much attention. I upload at least one image on my flickr account daily.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/perfectoarts/
But if you want me to continue to do so here, I will be more than happy to do so. I need to resize my images to be posted here on proud photography :)
Back at work and baby sitting grand daughter twice a week, so time is very limited these days.
I will upload some more later this afternoon. Having birthday brunch for my 1st born...heck she is now 38. Phew no wonder I ache all over sometimes LOL.

I don't understand why you have to change the size to post them here. Once you post them to your flickr account, you can then post them in here by using the url for the photo in your flickr account. Basically, it wouldn't take 3 minutes longer to post them here. Upload the image to your flickr account, select the image size you want, copy the url from below the image and then post a new post here. When you get to the post, click on the mountain icon and then paste the url in the box that pops up.

That only puts up the link though Mary, instead of the thumbnail of an image. I have tried this from my end and all that comes up is the URL address.

I've been browsing your flickr site and had came across a couple of these. They are lovely. I did this a while back and had forgot about it. This is one that I did with a flower. I love the look that the texture gave to it. I just need to use my camera more. It seems like everything I take a shot of usually ends up in the trash can. I want to capture images like these. I hope to have it by Spring so I can take lots of shots of my flowers. I do want to know how you capture your subjects with such beautiful backgrounds. Is this just the rain forest background you have around you or do you put something behind them?

Hi Joseph, thanks for popping in :)
The last photo of the white flower was nearly a reject, but then I thought it worthy to work on. It was a filter I used in CS3, but since installing CS4, I have lost this. Now I am upset. Wonder where I put this and what it was called. Will let you know.
I can recall I worked in layers to bring back the flower in sections in the ripples, that is all. OK I am on the lookout in my folders for that elusive filter.
