I think it would be good if you run a seperate photo of the month competition so photographers who feel there images are not up to what they should be for the prize money comp, can enter and then choose the following months theme?

So basically Admin could choose the first months photo theme , then members upload there image/entry, once the deadline as gone , Admin could put a voting system in place, and the winner chooses the next months theme , while the winning image is displayed with the photographers name and image title on the front/ home page of the forum for 1 month, if the software allows .

This would be good for all members to get involved no matter what level there at, and i am sure having the winning image dispalyed on the forum home page would also bring new members in?

I like the idea of showcasing the monthly winning photo somehow. That's a good idea.

I don't know how much I like a separate contest for those that don't think they measure up. What happends when someone doesn't think they measure up to the contest where people don't measure up? Start a third contest?

Contests are there to be fun and draw interest. It's not about the money. Some people like them, some don't. I'm all for additional contests of some sort, but not one directed at those that don't think they are good enough to enter a contest. We are all good enough.

Remember that photography is art and it is subjective. That in itself makes everyone qualified to enter the contest. We are all amateurs here.

I hear what you say and my original post is not ment to come over like that...but from reading in between the lines some members dont feel they are experienced enough to critic or post images on this board, so a fun comp run monthly or weekly i think would be good for members of all levels? Further more i think there is a few more togs here that are not amateurs but more experienced ' even working togs ' Actually I know there is!

Lastly if it was about the money for me ' as your post suggest ' i would not be here on this forum ' ?

I agree with another contest that has no cash prize. It is always something fun to do. And to have the winner's photo (voted by the members) posted on the home page.

I like this website because everyone seems to be amateurs and I don't feel silly posting my photos. The responses are non-intrusive, insightful and seem meaningful.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the members, I wouldn't have continued exploring this site. The site itself (for me) is not very user friendly.
