Some of you have asked about focus stacking, i dont think i could describe it clearly enough so here is a sequence of images used in a focus stack. All shots taken at f6.3, 1/200, ISO100.
The reason i shot at f6.3 is that this insect is only about 7mm in body length so i want to get as sharp an image as possible to show up all the fine detail. The DOF at this f-stop is minimal hence why focus stacking is extremley useful. The individual images are converted to TIFF's and then i use a software program called Combinezm which stacks the images together. I sometime do it manually in PS if there isnt to much overlapping detail. I will post one on the Dew Drop Refractions in a few days.
All the shots in this sequence were taken handheld.

The stacked image, straight out of the stacking software. Just some dust spot removal and adjusted the levels.
