It's not often I find photo's that I feel fit Black and White but Fatso here seemed to. I think it's a raven thing, they look much better in BnW.
I converted to greyscale and fiddled with the levels a little bit but again, I don't do BnW very often so C and C would be awesome :D

I've always been told not to greyscale an image because it takes too much out that you'd want to stay in detail-wise. The most often recommended method is to desaturate it so detail is not lost and then play with levels to get it 'just right'.

The pic of the raven is razor sharp!
I personally think the raven itself is outstanding as a B+W photograph.
Such detail.
The background looks overexposed and my eye keeps getting drawn back to the white blotches unfortunately.
These birds can be difficult to shoot from what I understand, since they are pure black.

What were your settings for this photo... do you remember?
That's an incredible photo.

I am unsure with B&W photography and I struggled with the B&W lesson. To me it looks brilliant, the Raven is sharp and good background blur, even though perhaps a little too over exposed, but in some ways it accentuates the blackness of the Raven.
