We are currently performing a major server maintenance which resulted in temporary service downtime and students unable to log in the course. Please bear with us while the work on a server is being done. As soon as it's possible, courses will be back online.

It required an instant action so we couldn't give you a notice in advance. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this. Thank you.

Second part of the upgrade has been scheduled for this week (Tues-Thurs). Our website may be down for couple of hours, so please be aware. This will also cause a delay in this month's POTM rating, which will start after the upgrade has been completed.

What will the upgrade bring?

PP Gallery has been re-built with cleaner user interface
improved photo rating system from 5 to 10-star
Changes in POTM rating; you'll have a chance to give your vote to 1 photo only instead of rating tens of photos
More detailed and accurate EXIF
A lot of changes will not be visible to the end user such as better website security, improved performance and bug fixesThank you for your continuing support!

Can't wait to see the changes, sounds great. Well done and thanks.

I didn't understand this part though. "Changes in POTM rating; you'll have a chance to give your vote to 1 photo only instead of rating tens of photos." It almost sounds like we can only rate 1 photo in the POTM. Is this right?

Hi Joseph,

I thought someone would ask... Basically we have a choice whether we want to use the old improved "star model" where everyone can vote for any photo or everyone having just one vote per month and give it to their favorite photo. The 10-star system seems to be more useful and flexible and something our members are used to. Sorry, I should have explained that more clearly.

I see. I'm assuming this is up for discussion then?

If so, I really like the idea of voting for one photo because of the possible time savings, but see a few problems with it.

First of all the chances of a tie go way way up and we would certainly have many more tie breaker votings. Second, unless there was a system in place to choose your favorites for that months photo's, then go back and choose your most favorite from that bunch, it would be really hard to stay organized when you are sifting through possible hundreds of photos and trying to remember which one out of the ones you liked is your favorite. You would find yourself going over them too many times, and I think it would make me go crazy. But if these two things were worked out, I would much rather vote only once, or possibly for my top 3 photos.

Just a quick question with regards the updates. I have had a lot of emails today saying my photo has been moved to a more relevant catagory. Is this part of the upgrades?

Many thanks for the hard work behind the scenes.

I asked admin the very same question in a PM this morning. Had almost 70 email waiting for me. :) I'm assuming it is part of the work they are in the middle of. I didn't quite understand it cause I don't use any catagories but members gallery, and POTM. But I guess we will understand more after the upgrade is complete.
