Okay - you can stop anytime now. Don't you have to watch your little girl???

Just kidding - These are awesome, it appears you have found your niche. I took the plunge and am awaiting delivery of a macro so I can give something like this a try.

Hehe, Ya I do have to watch her, but I reserved a few afternoon naps for a good go at a few new ones. This is a good way to keep photography going when you can't get out of the house. Good for you Deb. What glass you getting the 100? I hear this is also a great portrait lens. Haven't used it in that manner yet, but it is a great macro.

Canon, same as what you have. Found an almost new one on another photo site. Couldn't pass it up since hubby wants me to get into macro.

Your hubby is wonderful. Really supports your fun, that's great. That macro opens up a whole new branch of photography. The sharpness is incredible. Post some shots when you have it up and running.

My neighbor has that lens as well and he said the exact same thing last nite about opening up a whole new world!! Too funny. Been debating if I should leave work early to watch for UPS. And yes - hubby is very supportive. He's the one that usually suggests a road trip for picture taking.

And of course - will post shots for CC.

WOW, those are incredible. I really tried to choose a favorite but I can't they are all stunning.
I will have to give that a try one day when I'm ready and I have time, lots of time... Oh and much better glass than I have right now.

Thanks everyone. This last session was a break-through one for me. I got more drops to hit other drops and think I can do it more consistant now. Now I have to work on better lighting and focus. Thanks again for the nice comments.

That first photo I was looking at it thinking “How did she get that close to a Jellyfish” lol ok I see the rest of the photo now.

Gorgeous, I don’t have a macro lens, it looks like a whole new world.

Great work Joseph. So much so inspired me to go and buy the 100/2.8 Macro lens i'm assuming you used for these shots. Now all i need is the time and patience to get shooting.

Thank you so much and good luck with your new water sculptures. It is very challenging, but can be very rewarding. It's taken me many many months to understand what it takes to make a decent water sculpture and have lots still to learn. Especially since my studio is very primitive. I use very basic equipment like an eye dropper and such, and reply on good timing and a lot of luck. And of course thousands of deleted tries. Some that do this kind of photography use laser trip beems, sound triggers and such. I haven't taken it to that level because I don't have the funds, but would like to one day. In the mean time I'm very content to use my very primitive methods.

You will love your new lens. It is also a great for portraits.

I've been talking with what many consider to be the Godfather of water sculptures Martin Waugh. You can do a search on him and see his work. He has been very helpful in helping me out with any question I have, and really takes the time to help out beginners to this type of photography.

Good luck. Use a lot of patients when starting out. My first serious number of tries didn't produce any real keepers, but with a lot of practice and patients, is finally starting to produce some.

If I can be of any help, please let me know. I look forward tio seeing some early tries of yours.

Hi Joseph,
I can't believe how good these are. I would absolutely love a bit on insight as to how you do this.
I know, firstly I need a camera probably something similar to yours, and several years of knowledge and practice....
They are beautiful !!!

Thank you Joseph for those incredible shots again. So gorgeous, so varied and so much fun. Yes, you are having far too much fun.

My Canon 100mm F/2.8 macro lens virtually lives on my camera. A definite favourite and gorgeous to use.

Fantastic photos Joseph, I am in awe.
I am about to try the water droplet photo, How do you colour the water, is it just food dye? Have you tried it with differing consistancies, and if so is one better than the other?

Thanks for the comments jon. Yes, I use food color, other liquids such as milk, juices, and clear bowls with color paper under it for color reflection. Milk is great to use but tends to get blown out, but that's ok sometimes.

Can you tell me how you got the different colors? I would love to play with this macro but have never heard the capture technique explained.
Thanks
