Has anyone ever used those Tilano Fresco Photo Canvas Transfer Kit?

I just want to know if it is worth trying, or if it is a waste.

Thanks :)

I purchased a couple kits for "research" purposes recently - on my boss, not me, thank God. I actually work at a fine art and photo printing company where we specialize in canvas printing, so I had the perfect excuse to charge them to the company.

Here's my opinion. It's definitely not as easy to do as they make it seem. There's that, but then there is the time it takes. The kit I had stated that it could be placed in the oven to dry or it could air dry. I tried both methods. Don't use the oven dry method. It's supposed to be quicker but all I know is that my transfer paper ended up pulling up and bubbling in places - ultimately causing splotches of missing image on my finished product. And not having surgeon's hands, it was extremely stressful trying to keep my image centered as I lowered it onto the unforgiving stickiness.

Only because I have a real and true selection of authentic giclee canvas prints to compare them to, would I say, they look kind of cheap when all is said and done. But again the biggest kicker in this is the amount of time and energy I had to put into it. I'd gladly pay another $10 and just order an actual canvas photo print.

Very interesting Joseph. Although I am not sure of the cost of the kit, I still think it may be easier to get it done professionally. (This may depend what you want the canvas print for...)

I think the kit shown in the video was $19.00.

Joseph, thanks for that. It sounds like a reasonable price if one has the time to try it out.

I just got prices at a camera store in Sydney the other day:
To print photo onto Canvas 30cm by 40 cm (8" X 12")is AUD60.00.
Does this sound expensive to you?

Kaye I know Big W you can get 12''x18'' canvases for $41 at the moment - usually $60. I haven't ever used them so not sure of the quality...

Also Snapfish.com.au sometimes has good deals (although their regular prices are similar to what you have quoted).

(Admin if I am not allowed to 'advertise' these places please remove - I am still becoming familiar with the site and what is/isn't allowed)
