My new Toy is on ts way

I pulled the trigger on a Canon EF 100-400,F4.5-5.6L

I had a burr under my blanket for about a week and found the only way to stop the itch was to buy my way out of the situation. The War Dept didn't react to violent but calmly informed me that,that was 3 trips to the Casino on her part. I think she played me like a drum because I had to buy in and could'nt deny that underhanded request.

Now Joseph why won't the 1.4x TC work with yours. I have a friend who says his works fine but is best at 250mm on the edge of f5.

The reviews only say they,both 1.4 and 2 X are compatible with no details, maybe they are not sticking their necks out LOL.

I think I'll be happy for some time to come with the reach out that the 400 offers.

Much congrats to you and your new baby. You are going to love this lens.

There is much discussion about TC's and auto focus. This combo may focus for you in very good light. But may also continually search instead. I will get back to you when I get back in town and next week. Till then I would do come searches on focusing with a 40d, 100-400L and TC's and see what you come up with.

Congratulations Dick - as Jerry has said, new toys are a lot of fun.

Dick - I have the 1.4tc that I have used with the 100-400 and focus can be an issue. There is a supposed fix for the auto-focus, but so far, I have not had huge success - it's still a work in progress.
