Tamron 28-75 or canon 17-85?

Finally I'm back after months of preparing for the wedding, now I'm plunging again :) I've been researching forlens n has narrowed it to either tammy 28-75 or canon 17-85 my budget for now allows either one n I want to do the assignments for d course as well as use the lens as walk around/starter lens. I'm buying an xsi body only n will probably take awhile before I can buy anther lens any advise will b appreciated as always :)

Welcome back, Elisha. Wish I could recommend a lens, but I'm not familiar with either of them so can't comment. Maybe you could find a photography shop that rents them and try them out before you buy.
