Im thinking many of the pictures ,actually all dont fit into Aprils category.Contrast is meant to be ( I believe ),say for example ,Big toes of an adult and childs small toes.Something thats black and white.I think they mean contrast in size or color for example.Anyone agree or maybe we can get some clarification??? thanks Eyevan:confused:

I agree that many times in the POTM that some photo's don't match the theme for that month, at least in my eyes.

As far as April's POTM I agree that I'm lost in trying to match the contrast style with many of the already entered images.

It's my understanding that contrast style in photography has little to do with the technical aspect of contrast as it relates to tonal balance, and everything to do with contrast as far as subject matter. Or like eyevan mentioned, opposites. Hot/Cold, Big/Small, Sharp/Dull, things of that nature.

Maybe admin can stop by and clear it up for us.

I agree, the April's theme "Contrasts" was not meant to be related to the tonal balance. It seems this month we'll have a very few photos after we remove all that do not match.

If I can ask a question here relating to this disscussion: It's my assumption that photo's for the POTM contest can be PP to a certain extent. Is there a limit on how much post work, or photoshopping can be added to a POTM entry, or is there no holds barred?

No limits have been set on post-processing for the POTM so far. People will judge whether the PP was appropriate or not. Heavy processing can make or break your photo so keep that in mind too.

I was wondering if anyone can help me...I entered a pic to POTM and I dont seem to see it, The contrast in my pic was modern and old,so would just like to know if it has been removed.

Thanks

Hi jaydi, we took your photo off the competition and moved it to your personal gallery. It's obviously a very subjective thing. This month's theme appears to be very challenging for a lot of people, please do not take it personally. I had a look at your photo again and I now understand what you had in mind when you say Old vs Modern. It didn't strike me the first time when I was sorting April's photos. Your photo is back in the POTM. Thank you.

Thanks admin..Wow you were quick at replying.

Not sure if its good enough but glad that the contrast (even though very subtle) is now recognised.
