I'm a brand new photographer..... I need suggestions and critques.... Would love to hear opinions and advice.

I would crop out the black mark at the right, it is very distracting. Otherwise the photo is not bad, too bad you could not make her smile and her eyes sparkle.

I here what solo1 is saying about cropping out the black spot in the left corner...
but the emotionless face on the child... creates a different mood. Love it!

Good overall shot of the girl.
Pic looks like it was cropped in a landscape format rather than a portrait.
The black mark in the corner needs to be omitted and the top of the head included.
Other than that, it's good.

I like the face of the little girl...one of my favorite images of my grandson is just a photo of his long eye lashes. Except for the black spot in the corner, I really like this image. You could clone it out or crop it but I like the crop you have now, so I would just clone out the black spot. To me, this is capturing memories and not all memories are of smiling, happy kids.

I agree with everyone else - the black is distracting on such a lovely shot.
