Every month we have entries that are thrown out because the submitter doesn't understand the theme, or they don't know what it is for some reason. We even had one entry thrown out, then put back in because it met the theme, but was so subtle.
One way to solve most of these problems is to require, when submitting a POTM, a short description of why it meets the theme for that month. Even if it is obvious. Nothing fancy, just something very short. This will at least make the submitter read what the theme is and think about why it fits.

Great suggestion, Joseph. I sometimes wonder if some of the entries have a clue as to what the theme is...like they just enter a photo and hope it makes the criteria.

What I think is a lot of the time it's new members that don't know there is a theme. There was a time I think that PP didn't have a theme. That was like the first few months in 08.

Yes, I agree. The description is mentioned in the rules but not as a requirement. I make sure this becomes a requirement and find ways of displaying the rules and themes better especially to new members. This month many people got the concept of the Contrasts totally wrong. Thanks for suggestions guys.
